Yawhima (B/A), March 12, GNA – The Compassion is Love in Action (CILIA) Children’s Home at Yawhima in the Sunyani Municipality has appealed to charitable organisations, corporate institutions and philanthropists to assist the Home to finance on-going development projects.
The Home is undertaking a number of infrastructural projects which include; a health post, now at the foundation stage.
Reverend Mrs. Charlotte Osei Kwateng, the Founder, made the appeal when the national Women’s Fellowship of the Church of the Lord Brotherhood donated items to the children on Saturday at Yawhima.
They included; soft drinks, biscuits, a box of key bar soap, three mini-bags of rice, two boxes of canned fish, two boxes of tinned tomato paste, three 20-litre gallons of cooking oil, detergents and packs of toilet rolls.
Rev. Mrs Kwateng said the Home was currently catering for 35 children, saying the youngest was a female of less than a year, whilst the eldest was 18 years and an apprentice dressmaker.
Five of them, comprising three males and two females are students at the Oxford Senior High School in Sunyani.
She said though “the Home has a 35-seater bus donated by a philanthropist in December 2016, it is in a dire need of a double-cabin pick-up vehicle” to facilitate its work.
Reverend Mrs Kwateng expressed profound appreciation to the leadership and members of the fellowship and pleaded with other charitable groups and business concerns to support the Home financially and other logistics such as a vehicles.
Making the presentation earlier, Deaconess Mrs Philipa Obeng Addei, the national President of the Fellowship, said the donation was an annual ritual to climax their congress.
She noted that whichever Diocese the congress was held in the country, the group identified a particular Home and made donations to augment the efforts of the Management and staff to give proper care to children.
