Tamale, Dec 16, GNA - A National Child Help Line has been launched for the general public to report any child abuse case that they may witness during this festive season for quick justice.
Youth Advocacy on Rights and Opportunities (YARO), a child-centred non-governmental organisation, which has launched the National Child Help Line, encourages the public to report such cases to a Vodafone toll free line (0800111333) for action to be taken against the perpetrators.
Mr Douri Bennin Hajei, Executive Director of YARO, who spoke during the launch of the National Child Help Line in Tamale on Friday, said “it has been observed over the years that most child abuse cases occur during festive seasons” hence the launch.
Mr Bennin Hajei said “we want to send a strong message to child abusers that we are coming after them this Christmas and new year season” calling on Musicians Union of Ghana and other event organizers to be extra vigilant during their programmes to ensure the safety of children.
He said “To this end, any member of the general public that calls our National Child Help Line will be rewarded under the programme called “Report for Reward.”
