Ave Dakpa, (V/R) Oct.17, GNA - Dexaline Limited, an agribusiness Company is in discussions with the Akatsi North District for the establishment of a tomato processing plant under government’s “One-District, One Factory” initiative.
Mr George Dzidzah, Chief Executive Officer of the Company, in a project brief copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said similar projects would be established in a couple of districts in the region to provide ready and reliable market for farmers and create jobs.
He said all the Company needed was land and appealed to traditional rulers to make land available for the rapid socio-economic development of their areas.
Mr Emmanuel Norgbedzi, the General Manager of the Company said the facility would process about 160 metric tons of tomato per day into paste.
The Akatsi North District is noted for tomato farming with reported cases of glut yearly.
The District also has tourism potentials, which could be developed to create opportunities for the youth to reduce rural-urban migration.
