Accra, June 21, GNA – The Winners of the MTN Heroes of Change Season III programme, have called on the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Ebenezer Asante and Management of MTN Ghana to express their appreciation for the recognition.
The visit was to enable the winners familiarise themselves with the CEO, who was not present on the day of the grand finale and also thanked the company for its support to their respective projects.
Ten individuals were recognised in various categories included education, health and economic empowerment.
The winners had the opportunity to tour the head office of the company and visited various departments of MTN to learn at first hand the operations of the company.
Mr Asante commended the award winners for their immense contributions to society and the development of the country through their projects and activities.
He was impressed with the type of projects that was selected for this year’s Heroes of Change, saying “the very important contributions you are making for the advancement of society have been duly recognised by MTN and the country as a whole.”
MTN initiated the programme in July 2013 to identify and recognise unsung heroes, who are making a difference in their communities and by so doing encourage others to emulate their example.
He said the programme was one of the projects he was very passionate about, adding that it was a great pleasure to have both men and women championing community upliftment projects.
He said since its inception, the company had seen the efforts of amazing people as themselves, who bring hope to their communities and to individuals, who have no hope.
He said their contributions to the development of the communities could not be quantified by money, the time, energy, sacrifice and commitment were invaluable.
He expressed the hope that the prize money would be used to expand their projects and provide more opportunities for more people to benefit.
The Award winners expressed gratitude to MTN for the support and also recognizing them for the work they were doing to help humanity.
The winners are Genevieve Basigha, Joseph Asakibeem, Dr Michael Adusei-Nsowah, Ibrahim Bafara Alhassan, John Amankrah-Essel, Joana Mansah Deegbe, Nana Prof. Osei Kofi Darkwa III, Rev Fr. Dr. Moses Asaa Awinongya, Rev Monsignor Alex Bobby Benson and James Jack Dawson.
