Accra, March 28, GNA – The Ga Asafoiatsemei and Asafoianyemei have called on Dr Nii Tetteh Kwei, the Ga Dzaasetse and the Ga Stool Council to expedite action in the appointment and installation of the Ga Mantse to facilitate development of the Ga State.
Captain Kojo Nseni Nii Mankata IV, the Ga Asafiotse has given his unflinching support to the Ga Dzaase Paromount Stool which was mandated to nominate and install a Ga Mantse to discharge its obligation without fear or favour for peace to prevail.
This, he said, was critical because since the death of Boni Nii Amugi, the Ga state had not had peace, in that the succession to the throne was characterized with mistrust, conflict and confusion as well as party politics.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra, the Ga Asafoiatse said since his installation in 2016, he has not been able to discharge his customary role of paying allegiance to the Ga Mantse due to the absence of a substantive Ga Mantse.
He said the current state of the sacred traditional institutions had declined saying, “the sacred institutions like the Wulowei and head of families were now afflicted by the same woes and not spared by the ugly features of the debacle”.
He said the Ga State needs all the relative support and peace from all and sundry to rally behind and install a suitable Ga Mantse without delay.
Nii Ahene Nunoo III, the Abola Mantse of the Ga State, also expressed concerns about the negative happenings in the Ga State, but pledged his support to help the Ga Dzaase to cleanse the Ga State of its negative image and replace it with a positive outlook.
“The reason for my call is to ensure that all people of Ga descent rally around a new Ga Mantse to celebrate this year’s Homowo festival in peace, since we are one people with a common destiny bound together by a common custom, tradition and culture,” he added.
He said it was only when the people were united under a strong and formidable leader that they can forge ahead and make progress.
Meanwhile the Ga Asafiotse has expressed worry about the emergence of land-guards in the country’s politics which had led to lawlessness, chaos, bloodshed and gun totting in the Ga state.
