Workshop on draft APRM Governance report for Birim Central held at Oda
Akyem Oda, Nov. 21, GNA - Ms Ophelia Koomson, Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said the assembly has performed well in the four thematic areas of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM).
They are Democracy and Good Political Governance, Economic Governance and Management, Corporate Governance and Socio-economic Development.
Mr Koomson said the assembly would continue to work hard towards the development of the municipality, to improve the lives of the people.
The MCE, who was speaking at a validation workshop on draft APRM governance report on the municipality, at Akyem Oda, said a peaceful environment had been created for business and for people to go about their daily work.
Ms Koomson said that good governance was necessary for national development and advised Ghanaians not to trample upon the rights of each other.
Ms Koomson said that nation building was a shared responsibility and reminded members of the Municipal Oversight Committee that the APRM concept was devoid of partisan politics, and they should discuss issues that would help move the area forward.
Ms Gloria Ofori Boadu, a member of the APRM Governing Council, called for the promotion of good governance to woo investors to invest and create jobs in the country.
Mr Ernest Opare, Birim Central Chairperson of the oversight committee, said since its inauguration in 2007, it had been holding sensitization workshops on activities of APRM for the people.
He presented the draft report to participants, including assembly members, heads of departments, chiefs and other opinion leaders.
