Ashanti CLOGSAG asks members to ignore directive to return to work
Kumasi, Nov 7, GNA – The Ashanti Regional branch of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has asked its members to ignore the directive by the National Executive Committee to go back to work.
It insisted that the Committee had no mandate to review a decision taken by the National Executive Council of the Association.
A press release signed by the Regional Chairperson, Madam Mercy B. Acheampong, in Kumasi on Wednesday, said the Council was the only body that could set aside its decisions.
It maintained that the nationwide industrial action was decided on by the Council and that if that was to be reversed, it could only be done by that body.
The regional association therefore found the directive unfortunate - not coming from the appropriate authority to be complied with.
The release said although they were aware that the intervention by Civil Service Council to get the premium paid to them, it was their firm conviction that the right procedures must be followed.
It said the strike action would continue until their demands were met.
Meanwhile, members of the Association in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality had joined their colleagues across the country by withdrawing their services.
Offices of the decentralized departments in the area were found locked up during a visit by the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Wednesday afternoon.
