NDP seeks for power to serve the people - Mrs Rawlings
Accra, Oct 17, GNA - Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Flag-Bearer of the National Democratic Party (NDP) on Wednesday said the purpose of governance was to serve the governed, but unfortunately that had not been the case in Ghana for some time now.
“NDP is therefore seeking the mandate of the people to correct what had gone wrong politically, socially and economically.
"There are serious problems that need immediate solutions, and the NDP would give you the best you can ever have", Mrs Rawlings stated at a press conference in Accra.

The NDP flag bearer said: "We are charting a new course to correct things that have gone wrong in the country. Ensuring grassroots participation in governance and encouraging entrepreneurial skills are key things we plan to do, to ensure that the country makes tremendous developmental leaps."
Mrs. Rawlings said whilst it was excellent to have women occupying influential positions, empowering women generally was also very important, and congratulated political parties that had elected female running mates.
She said the time had come for Ghanaians to re-consider whether to stick to the old, traditional major political parties or to chart a new course of rapid progress and development.
"Let us all be determined to chart a new Ghana," Mrs Rawlings stated.
Mrs Rawlings was last Saturday elected through popular acclamation by 2,500 delegates, at the maiden congress of the NDP which was held in Kumasi, to become the party's Flag bearer, for the 2012 Presidential election.
