Ghana coach Otto Addo has called up three home-based players to replace four players who were injured during the match against Angola.
Ghana’s captain Jordan Ayew, Gideon Mensah, Alidu Seidu, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku would miss the final game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Niger on Monday at Accra Sports Stadium.
According to a statement on the Ghana Football Association website, Ayew had knee troubles despite playing the entire game, while his club teammate Issahaku was replaced at halftime due to injury.
Alidu Seidu and Gideon Mensah, who had to pass late fitness tests for the Angola game, have been deemed unfit for the Niger encounter.
Despite this setback, Otto Addo has handed debut call-ups for three players, including Medeama SC right back Kamaradini Mamudu, Heart of Lions defender Ebenezer Abban, and Thought FC‘s Jerry Afriyie.
The three players are expected to train with the team later on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Stars are currently bottom of Group F with three points and would miss out at the AFCON for the first time in 20 years.
