The track record of Nigerian airlines that plied the Accra-Lagos route hasn’t been a good one. They are often beset with poor services and eventual collapse, but Air Peace, the latest one to launch on the route says, it is here to stay and offer better services.
The airline made its first flight from Lagos to Accra this morning February 16, 2017.
Started in 2014 some 28 months ago, the airline has been operating routes within Nigeria, making the flight to Accra the first outside Nigeria and within the West African sub-region, where air travel is difficult and expensive within countries.
A representative of the Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, speaking at the launch of the route at the Kotoka International Airport, Eric Amaning noted that the Authority is pleased to welcome the airline to Accra and expressed the hope that it would stick to the high standards required for smooth operations at the Airport.
Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olajide, the Chief Operating Officer of Air Peace said she believes the operations in Accra would guide the airline’s plan to expand into other regional and international routes.
“We promise not to lower the high standards we have been known for since we started operations. We are in Ghana to offer nothing but the best air travel experience and treat our customers with the greatest respect,” she said.
