The US military's top commander in the Pacific has said an advanced missile defence system in South Korea aims bring North Korean leader Kim Jong-un "to his senses, not to his knees". Adm Harry Harris, head of US Pacific Command, told Congress the US would be ready "with the best technology" to defeat any North Korean missile threat. The US has also deployed warships and a submarine to the Korean peninsula.

A 36-year-old man, Abdul Salam, has been arrested by the Asankrangwa Police for murdering his six-year-old son for rituals. The suspect was alleged to have severed the head and left legs of the boy in what could be described as a ritual murder.
A business man, Bismark Kyeremateng, is in the grips of the police in the Ashanti Region for allegedly importing and distributing fake electricity meters. Kyeremateng is said to have been in the business for the past two years was arrested at his office at Kronom, a suburb of Kumasi.

The Kumasi Police last Monday arrested two suspected armed robbers believed to be members of a gang terrorising small-scale miners in and around Obuasi and Manso Watreso in the Ashanti Region. The suspects are Kwaku Asare and Daniel Kwadwo Asamoah, both 30.
