Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International (CABI), a UK-based inter-governmental not-for-profit organisation, has pledged support for the “Planting for Food and Jobs” initiative being implemented by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA). CABI, through its capacity-building programme, intends to facilitate the training of agricultural extension agents for them to acquire the necessary skills to drive the project.

The Volta Region Caucus of the Minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament has begun interactions with constituencies in the region to brace itself up for activities to reorganise the party. The government has started the process of reclaiming an estimated 1.5 per cent of the country’s land surface which has allegedly been degraded by illegal mining and other bad environmental activities. The country’s land space is estimated at about 238,000 squre kilometers. Out of this, between 50,000 and 60,000sq km, representing 1.5 per cent, is reportedly degraded by either illegal mining or other unhealthy environmental practices.

The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) has initiated investigations into a missing Gh¢35million said to have been disbursed as loans by the Ghana Venture Capital Trust Fund. The BNI suspect fraud since the beneficiaries of the loans cannot be traced. Consequently, the current Chief Executive, Mr Osman Sulemana and his predecessor Daniel Kofi Duku are to provide answers on the missing money.

The international transport company Uber says it plans to launch a fleet of flying cars by 2020, the BBC has reported. It said initial networks would be set up in the US city of Dallas and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
