Beneficiaries of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) in the Bono Region have lauded President Nana Addo- Akufo for offering them opportunities to serve in the various modules under the NABCO initiative.
They said, government engaging them have reduced their burdens and also enhanced their capacity and rendered them the needed experiences which would boost them in their future search for jobs.
They expressed these excitements during a float organised on the principal streets of Sunyani as part of activities to mark the week-long celebrations of one year anniversary of NABCO in the region.
A beneficiary of the initiative, Deborah Fordjour who works under the Educate Ghana module, in an interview with Citi News said the programme has brought relief to her and her parents.
“NABCO has really helped, I wouldn’t know where I would be today. The burden would still be on my parents, I would still be calling my parents for money. Apart from the money I am getting, I am gaining experience which is going to help me. I am surprise that some people are condemning the programme. As for me, I can say on authority that I am benefiting from the programme,” Ms Deborah Fordjour noted.
Other activities to mark the anniversary includes donation of some items, health screening and football competition and climaxing it with a grand durbar on Monday 14th October 2019.
The Bono Regional Coordinator of NABCO, Kofi Ofosu Boateng said has brought relief to most unemployed graduates and those who want an opportunity to set up their own businesses.
He said, these wonderful initiative is a stepping stone to engage the unemployed graduates to give them employable skills and also a life of dignity.
He noted that, the policy has the tendency of employing the majority of unemployed graduates, if not all of them and the initiative is by far the most comprehensive policy aimed at creating jobs for graduates in the country.
The Nation Builders Corps initiative was launched by President Nana Akufo-Addo in 2018 to address the perennial unemployment, which had become a canker in the country.
The modules under the initiative include: Feed Ghana, Educate Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Heal Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, Digitize Ghana and Governance Ghana.
