The leadership of the Ghana Police has cautioned officers in the Service to desist from breaking traffic regulations under the guise of “emergency” situations.
According to an Internal memo from the police which was sighted by citinewsroom.com, any police officer found flouting any of the traffice laws will be sanctioned.
The Police Service in the memo also warned the officers that video recordings of any violation will be shared with the general public.
“It has been observed by the Police Administration that whilst initiatives have been taken to enforce Traffic Regulations in partnership with the media, a number of Police personnel continue to violate the same laws under the guise of emergency. Henceforth, personnel found violating any traffic regulation without attending to any emergency will be sanctioned. Video recordings of such violations will be shared with the general public.” The statement read
A number of security officials, including police, customs and military officials, were arrested last week as part of Citi TV‘s War Against Indiscipline campaign, for breaching various traffic regulations at East Legon.

The War Against Indiscipline is a campaign put together by Citi TV, with support from Citi FM and the Ghana Police Service to curb the indiscipline on the country’s roads.
The War Against Indiscipline was started by Citi TV in May 2019 and has received massive support from the Ghana Police service.
The campaign is to avert the increasing loss of lives through road carnage due to recklessness and general disregard for traffic regulations.
The campaign is to draw attention to the nuisance caused by drivers and motorbike riders on Ghana’s roads.The #WAI campaign has accrued to the state, over GH¢258,000.
