Dr. Ahmed Abdulai Jinapor, a senior lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, has urged his colleagues to rally behind the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Afful-Broni.
He said political polarisation had torn the school apart and it was now time to build bridges. He also urged all those who have issues with the University’s governing council to explore dialogue instead of the court.
He also called on the Effutu MP, Alex Afenyo Markin, to lobby the government to expand teaching facilities to absorb the first batch of free Senior High School graduates.
Another lecturer, Samuel Atintonu also congratulated Prof. Afful-Broni and urged him to move past the friction and work with everyone to develop the school.
Prof. Afful-Broni appointed was substantive Vice-Chancellor on August 31.
This was after five principal officers of the institution were dismissed, including then Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mawutor Avoke.
Prior to the dismissal, a Winneba High Court in 2017 ordered Professor Mawutor Avoke, to step aside until a case brought against him and the University’s Governing Council was determined.
The order was made in a case brought before the court by one Supi Kofi Kwayera, who insisted that the Vice Chancellor and the Finance Officer were operating under the institution’s defunct governing council.
