Ace broadcaster Tommy Annan on Saturday night November 18, 2017, received a special award at ‘The Eminence,’ organized by Citi TV.
The award, which was presented to him by Samira Bawumia, wife of the Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. was to celebrate Uncle Tom, as he is affectionately called, for his immense contribution to broadcasting in Ghana.
Receiving the plaque and a citation, the man nicknamed Air Marshal, thanked the organizers for recognizing his great works.
“I would like to say a very big thank you to Citi TV for this honour. I really appreciate it. In fact, I am so much overwhelmed,” he said.
The CITI TV event, dubbed ‘The Eminence’, is aimed at celebrating and recognizing the contributions of individual personalities who have impacted their various fields in a positive way.
The maiden edition considered Tommy Annan-Forson, a Ghanaian broadcaster of more than 35 years experience in media practice.
Uncle Tom took to the stage to dazzle the audience with his Disk jockeying skills, playing some great old tunes to relive his days when he was loud on air.
Present at the ceremony were personalities such as actor Kofi Adjorlolo, satirist Kwaku Sintim Misa, wife of the Vice-President, Samira Bawumia, former MP and Minister of State Fritz Baffuor among others.
The programme, which took place at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra, was attended by Tommy’s family and friends.
The event was spiced great musical performance from Deep Wave band from James Town in Accra, and was climaxed by a performance from highlife veteran A.B Crenstil.
