Navrongo Health Research Center Celebrates 25th Anniversary
Starting as a field station in November 1988, the Navrongo Health Research Center (NHRC's) initial aim was to investigate the impact of large doses of Vitamin A on child survival. The Ministry of Health chose Navrongo for that project, due to the prevalence of Vitamin A deficiency in the Kasena-Nankana district at that time. However, the site was upgraded to a Research Center in 1992, and given the mandate to investigate health and demographic problems in northern Ghana. Now the NHRC is 25 years old.
