Spanish-Swiss coach Raoul Savoy has thrown his hat into the ring for the vacant Black Stars job.
The 43-year-old who lasted seven months in his last job with Gambia in 2015 confirmed his application to Starr Sports.
“I have applied for the job because I’m sure that Ghana is still one of the best teams in Africa and one of the teams who should be in the following World Cup and of course try again in the next Afcon in Cameroon to win the title,” Savoy said.
According to the former Sion youth coach, Ghana’s last outing at the Nations Cup in Gabon was a disaster and believes he is capable of bringing the African giants back on track.
“I think the last Afcon was a disaster and now is the time for Ghana to be on the top of African rankings…” he added.
Savoy has previously coached Ethiopia and Central Africa Republic and a host of clubs on the continent.
He is a holder of UEFA coaching diplomas (UEFA – A Licence Scottish Football Association and Swiss FA) and began his career with Cameroon’s Tonnerre Yaoundé in 2002.
Raoul Savoy speaks fluently English, Italian, French, Spanish and German. He also can understand Arabic language.
The deadline for the submission of applications in the search for Avram Grant’s successor is set for Friday, March 10 at 5pm.
