Hearts of Oak coach Aboubakar Ouattara has questioned the motives of journalists regarding his side following their latest Ghana Premier League win.
Hearts of Oak ended a run of four games without a victory by beating Medeama 1-0 on Sunday in their first game back at the Accra Sports Stadium in more than six months.
Midfielder Raphael Amponsah’s long range effort in the first half gave the Phobians a much-needed victory to stay within six point of the league’s summit.
Despite Hearts of Oak picking up a slender win against Medeama, it was a drab performance from the team, one that led a number of fans criticising the performance.
Hearts’ latest vapid display comes on the heels of their midweek defeat against Nations FC, where they were beaten by a Razak Simpson strike.
Asked about how content he was with his team’s display against Medeama on Sunday, Ouattara retorted:
“Sometimes, I ask myself, what do you [journalists] want? When we win, the performance is not good. When we play well and lose then you’re criticising us. Tell me the truth, what do you want?”
“Me, I need three points. If I get the three points, all this commentary is not my concern. The table is not about performance; we want three points,” he added.
Aboubakar Ouattara is no stranger to spats with journalists, after previously labeling questions thrown at him in his post match defeat against Kotoko in December as unreasonable lottery questions.
Ouattara, who was charged by the Ghana Football Association for allegedly dodging Hearts’ post-match conference against Dreams FC, was appearing in his first post match conference since the said incident, after failing to honour midweek’s session due to medical treatment.
Hearts of Oak take on Vision FC next weekend in the league.
