Ghanaians have voiced their opinions ahead of the return of the Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup qualifying games.
Although in January, fans have not shied away from making bold claims ahead of the much-anticipated World Cup qualifying games as Ghana bids to make it to a fifth World Cup.
The opinions of fans come on the back of a disappointing 2024, where the Black Stars picked up two victories all year, with the team’s wins coming in World Cup qualifying games against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR).
At the 2023 AFCON, held in Ivory Coast in January, Ghana failed to win a game, drawing two and losing one.
The underwhelming year for the Black Stars reached its crescendo in November, when the Black Stars failed to make the AFCON for the first time in 20 years, missing out on the 2025 tournament.
The decision of fans stems from the recent underwhelming performances of Ghana.
Ghana kicks off its 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March, where they’ll face Chad and Madagascar before playing Chad and Mali in September.
Games against CAR and Comoros conclude the qualifying series in October.
Ghana, who lie second in Group I of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with 9 points, will be hoping to seal a place in next summer’s global showpiece.
