Flagbearer of Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen has said former President, John Agyekum Kufuor has caused a blemish on his political career for endorsing the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Speaking in an interview on Oyerepa TV on Monday, November 18, the former Minister under Kufuor’s administration noted that the revered stateman should stay away from endorsing any candidate.
The former NPP member explained that Kufuor’s act has paved way for political foot soldiers to disrespect him despite his distinguished career.
“What he has done has created a big blot on his political career. You see how people are speaking against him. See how others are disrespecting him. For someone with a distinguished career in politics and everyone respect you.
“How do you now involve yourself in such matters and now everybody criticizes you anyhow,” Alan said.
He advised the revered statesman to refrain from making any further comment as such.
“I can’t disrespect him. He is like a uncle to me. What he is doing is not right, he should stop it. He is the only person who know why he is saying such things,” Alan added.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday, Novemebr 17 Kufuor expressed confidence in the ability of Dr Bawumia to govern the country.
Mr Kufuor indicated that Ghana’s economy will be transformed if the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is elected as president in this year’s general elections.

Mr Kufuor noted that has the potential to accelerate Ghana’s economic development.
“I have observed his remarkable abilities in economic enhancement during my tenure, as he was integral to the Bank of Ghana’s team under Governor Dr. Paul Acquah, contributing to the revival of the currency,” he said.
Menawhile, a leading spokesperson for Former President John Dramani Mahama, Felix Kwakye Ofosu says John Agyekum Kufuor is duty-bound to defend his party and campaign for the flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
He noted that Mr Kufuor’s utterances do not mean that Ghanaians will automatically vote for the NPP.
“The consummate Danquah-Busia man that he is, President Kufour, is duty bound to defend his party and campaign for its candidate. It doesn’t mean the electorate accepts his narrative. The NPP has been utter rubbish in government and must be thrown out!” he tweeted on Monday, November 18.
