Over 20,000 people in the Volta region are expected to take part in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) nationwide Enough-is-Enough demonstration against the Electoral Commission on Tuesday September 17.
This number according to the Volta Regional Chairman of the party, Mawutor Agbavitor will include party members, market women, the various trade unions and also, members of the other political parties.
The Enough-is-Enough demo by the NDC which is taking place in all sixteen regions of the country, is intended to put pressure on the Electoral Commission to undertake a forensic audit of the Voter’s register to ensure it is credible ahead of the December 7, polls.
“We expect about 20,000 participants because we have received calls from all over -market women will be participating, dressmakers, apprentices, road contractors, they will all be participating in the demonstration; we expect the numbers to be out tomorrow,” the regional chairman told 3news
“Some other political parties including the GCPP, coalition of NGOs, a cross-section of people, it is not only the NDC that is participating in this demonstration, it is not an NDC demonstration, it is a demonstration for all Ghanaians,” he added.
Ahead of the demonstration, the party’s Regional Secretary, James Gunu, has also indicated that the police have duly been notified and all other issues regarding approved routes and security protocols have been taken care of.
He assured that the protest will be peaceful and violence free while urging members of the public to come out in their numbers for the demonstration.
