Ghanaian reggae and dancehall musician, Ras Kuuku has spoken out about the challenges facing artists in the music industry.
In a recent interview, ‘The Show Them Love’ singer highlighted what he believes to be the biggest challenge facing musicians today including the unwillingness of others to collaborate with other artistes and disloyalty.
As RasKuuku points out the collaborative process can be fraught with challenges.
And one of the most significant of these challenges is having another artist drop the verse from the final cut or decide not to participate in a collaboration altogether.
“For you to do a verse for your brother man and they drop the verse or they decide not to do a song with you,” he disclosed to show hosts “It’s not Sarkodie but I’ll let you know later”
For Ras Rukuu,39, he believes collaborations can help artist showcase their talents and reach a wider audience.
However, when a colloborator artiste refuses to partner, it can leave the remaining artist feeling frustrated and disappointed.
Not only can this be a significant setback for their career, but it can also damage their reputation and relationships within the industry.
“The song was dropped before they called me and told me that they left out my verse. People are saying that maybe I mashed the beat too much that’s why they left it out,” he explained
Born Kojo Kurankye, the Puom Music C.E O has decried such ills in the industry and recently took it out on Angeltown, the manager of rapper, Sarkodie for preventing songs from reaching him.
“It’s Angel. Angel blocks people from reaching Sarkodie. I have sent songs to them, but Angel has blocked it,” Ras Kuuku told Konxept Worae.
