AshantiGold SC knocked out of CAF Confederation Cup
Ghanaian side AshantiGold Sporting Club have been knocked out of the 2020-2021 CAF Confederation Cup after a 2-1 defeat to Salitas FC at the STADE DU 4 AOÛT in Burkina Faso.
The first leg ended goaless at Len Clay last weekend when the two sides faced each other and it was all to play for in the return leg.
Forward Olivier Stephane Boissy was handed a start for Salitas.
Salitas FC opened the scoring as early as the 13th minute through Olivier Stephane Boissy in an empty STADE DU 4 AOÛT.
The Senegalese made no mistake when he had the opportunity to double his side’s lead with few minutes to the end of the first half.
Ashgold had a consolation through David Abagna Sandan just before the end of the first half.
Despite pressing and creating chances in the closing stages of the game, AshantiGold couldn’t get the all important second goal.
The result means Ashgold are out of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup with an aggregate score of 2-1 against them.
Salitas will face Sudanese side Alamal Atbara in the first round of the competition in late December.
