Some parents Monday morning stormed Accra Girls’ Senior High School, demanding the immediate release of their children for fear of the contracting coronavirus.
The action of the parents is informed by media reports over the weekend that some six students have tested positive for the virus and had been taken to isolation centers for treatment.
There were also complaints by some students of the school that the food provided in the dining hall was not enough and school authorities would not allow them make alternative arrangements for food.
Some alleged that they were being maltreated by school authorities and wanted the Minister of Education and the powers that be to come to their aid.
Currently, only final year students and second year Gold Track students are in school, while all other students are home due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Videos available to 3news.com show that people, identified as parents, have massed up at the school’s gate.
The footage also shows police officers manning the gate and ensuring the parents do not overstep their bounds.
