Rapper Sarkodie is hoping to revive the Azonto music genre and dance that threw the spotlight on Ghana about a decade ago.
Known to be one of the people that popularised Azonto and sold it to the world, the rapper is hoping to bring back that glory by featuring on songs of that genre for free.
He made the disclosure shortly after releasing an Azonto genre song, ‘Fa Hooki Me’ featuring rapper Tulenkey. The song, shortly after its release, took Twitter by storm.
Following the buzz the song had generated, Sarkodie announced that he was ready to feature on any artiste’s Azonto song for free.
“To all artists if you dropping Azonto any moment from now , free verse from me #Fahookime,” he announced.
“Yo @ELgh_ agenda dey we de #BringBackAzonto nti #Fahookime sharp … let’s go!!!,” he sent an invite to rapper E.L who produced and feature on Sarkodie’s ‘You Go Kill Me’ hit track.
“Ha! Say Less King, @PeeGh_ send me something asap!#BringBackAzonto,” E.L swiftly responded.
Sharing a video of some people showing off Azonto moves, the award-winning rapper warned that, “Please if y’all can’t bring back these moves , don’t do dance videos for #FaHookiMe else I ain’t retweeting.”
“ I repeat if you can’t bring these moves back don’t dance pls #BringBackAzonto #FaHookiMe,” he further warned.
Several artistes, including D-Black, DopeNation, and CJ Biggerman, have all jumped on the trend #Fahookime.
