Hundreds of entrepreneurs and business owners showed up at the Trade Fair Centre last Friday for the SME Trade Festival organized by the British Council.
Dubbed ‘Jobs for Youth SME Trade Festival’, the programme saw indigenous Ghanaian businesses and start-ups assemble for an opportunity to showcase their products, network and get free coaching tips.
Participants were taken through training sessions and one-on-one coaching interactions with experts to help boost their businesses.
From clothes to shoes among other things, start-ups got an opportunity to exhibit some of their products and services for the many that thronged the Trade Fair Centre to either partake in the training sessions or make a purchase or two.
Representatives from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) were also present to take business owners through the right channels through which they can file and pay their taxes, as well as get their products checked and properly authorized for sale.
Some start-ups also got the opportunity to pitch business ideas and are likely to get funding from some organizations.
