Ghana’s University for Development Studies (UDS) have been crowned African university football champions for the second consecutive time after defeating Julius Nyerere University of Guinea 2-1 in the final on Wednesday in Cairo.
The historic triumph makes UDS the first university in the history of African university football to win the continental title in consecutive editions.
UDS’ latest achievement further underlines their dominance in university football on the continent after they also became the first African university to win the FISU World University Football Championship in 2025.
The Tamale-based university entered the final after defeating Egypt’s Delta University 4-0 in the semi-finals.
Their back-to-back continental success marks another significant milestone for Ghanaian university football and further establishes UDS as a leading force in the sport at both continental and global levels.
