Petros Koukouras: GoldStars frustrated after Bechem defeat

Bibiani GoldStars head coach Petros Koukouras says his team were frustrated after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Bechem United on the opening weekend of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

GoldStars were unable to take anything from the game despite Koukouras believing his side deserved at least a point from the encounter.

The coach, however, has urged his players to learn from the defeat and avoid repeating the mistakes they made.

“First of all, all of us were very frustrated because we couldn't pick up at least a point from that game, though we deserved to pick something from that game,” Koukouras said.

“But as I always say, when we lose a game, not everything is wrong, and when we win a game, not everything is perfect.”

Koukouras revealed that the team has already analysed the performance with the players as they prepare for Sunday's difficult home clash against Hearts of Oak.

“So we have to make a deep analysis with the players to see what went wrong. We have discussed it, and hopefully, moving forward, not repeat the same mistakes.”

GoldStars will be looking to respond immediately when they welcome Hearts of Oak to Dun’s Park.

The visitors are arriving with confidence after recording an emphatic 4-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea in their opening fixture.

Koukouras has already acknowledged the threat posed by the Phobians and expects a difficult encounter, describing the fixture as one of the important derbies of the season.
