Kobina Amissah set to take over as Basake Holy Stars coach

Kobina Amissah is set to take over as head coach of Basake Holy Stars following Johnson Smith's departure to Nations FC.

Smith officially returned to Nations FC earlier this month, taking charge of the FA Cup holders who will compete in the Division One League following their relegation while preparing for their maiden CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Amissah is no stranger to the Ghana Premier League, having previously managed Bechem United. The experienced tactician recently guided Home Stars in the Division One League and brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Holy Stars job .

His appointment comes at a crucial time for Basake Holy Stars, who are looking to build on a solid debut Premier League campaign. The club finished outside the relegation zone and showed promise under Smith's guidance .

Johnson Smith had taken over Basake Holy Stars. Under his leadership, the club achieved notable results, including a 2-1 win over Asante Kotoko and a six-game unbeaten run.

Smith's departure to Nations FC, where he previously served as assistant coach, marks the end of a successful chapter at Holy Stars.

Amissah will now be tasked with continuing the club's progress and building on the foundation laid by his predecessor. The new coach is expected to begin work immediately as preparations for the 2026/27 season gather pace.
