Ghana international midfielder Iddrisu Baba is on the verge of completing a move to Serbian powerhouse Partizan Belgrade on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Spanish side UD AlmerÃa.
The 30-year-old defensive midfielder is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Black-Whites, marking a new chapter in his career after spending several seasons in Spanish football.
Baba leaves AlmerÃa after a three-year spell, having joined the club in 2023.
Before his move to AlmerÃa, he established himself as one of the most reliable midfielders in Spain during a lengthy stint with Mallorca, where he helped the club secure promotion to La Liga and became a regular fixture in the first team.
Across his spells with Mallorca and AlmerÃa, the Ghanaian amassed more than 150 appearances in La Liga, earning a reputation for his combative style, ball-winning ability and tactical discipline in midfield.
His impending switch to Partizan offers the experienced midfielder an opportunity to compete for domestic honours and potentially feature in European competitions with one of Serbia's most successful clubs.
Partizan, who are aiming to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign, view Baba's experience in one of Europe's top leagues as a significant addition to their midfield.
The move also represents a fresh challenge for the former Ghana international, whose experience and leadership are expected to play an important role in Partizan's ambitions both domestically and on the continental stage.
An official announcement is expected once the final paperwork is completed, with Baba poised to become the latest Ghanaian player to ply his trade in the Serbian top flight.
