FIFA has unveiled the official knockout bracket for the 2026 World Cup following the conclusion of the group stage, confirming the path each of the 32 remaining nations must navigate in pursuit of football's biggest prize.
After 72 group-stage matches across the United States, Canada and Mexico, the tournament now enters its knockout phase, where every match is winner-takes-all.
The bracket features several heavyweight clashes in the Round of 32. Brazil face Japan, Portugal take on Croatia, the Netherlands meet Morocco, France play Sweden, while England begin their knockout campaign against DR Congo.
Ghana, who progressed as one of the tournament's best third-placed teams after finishing behind England and Croatia in Group L, will face Group K winners Colombia in Kansas City. Victory would send the Black Stars into the Round of 16, where they would meet either Switzerland or Algeria.
Defending champions Argentina begin their title defence against Cape Verde, one of the surprise packages of the tournament, while Spain face Austria, Germany take on Paraguay, Belgium meet Senegal and hosts United States play Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Elsewhere, South Africa open the knockout stage against Canada, Ivory Coast face Norway, Mexico play Ecuador and Australia meet Egypt.

The official bracket also illustrates the potential route to the final, with the remaining teams now able to map out possible quarterfinal, semifinal and final opponents based on results in the coming days.
The knockout stage follows a historic group phase for African football, with nine of the continent's 10 representatives reaching the Round of 32. Ghana, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Egypt, South Africa, Algeria, Senegal, Cape Verde and DR Congo all remain in contention for the biggest prize in international football.
While the bracket offers a glimpse of potential blockbuster encounters later in the tournament, every team's focus remains firmly on surviving the Round of 32, where one defeat will end their World Cup dream.
