Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has stressed that his side must remain fully focused until the Ghana Premier League title is officially secured.
Despite sitting at the top of the table, Tanko insists there is no room for complacency as the season approaches its decisive stage.
Speaking in a pre-match interview ahead of the next match against Heart of Lions, the Medeama coach explained that constant communication with the players has been key in maintaining focus and discipline within the squad.
He warned that playing at home should not lead to any sense of comfort, urging his team to treat every match with the same level of seriousness.
“We have to have a lot of conversations with the players. We are still leading the table, but I don’t think we should feel comfortable because we are playing at home. We have to prepare well, like any other game,” he told Medi TV.
Tanko also emphasised the importance of securing victory in the upcoming fixture, noting that a win would significantly strengthen their chances of winning the league.
He believes that maximum points in the next match could push Medeama very close to clinching the title before the final game of the season.
“We want to win this game so that our chances will be almost 90% before the last game. So definitely we are going to work hard for this game,” he added.
The Week 33 fixture between Medeama SC and Heart of Lions is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, and will kick off at 3 pm at the TnA Stadium.
