Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has credited striker Kelvin Obeng with transforming the team's attacking dynamics following his return from injury, after the forward scored in their 4â0 demolition of Asante Kotoko.
Obeng, who joined from Aduana Stars earlier this season, has struggled with fitness issues but produced a key performance in the Week 29 clash at the TNA Stadium.
His presence, Tanko explained, has solved a problem that plagued Medeama in the first round.
"You need a type of striker who can keep the ball for you, who is good in the air, and you could see that he is a typical striker in the box. That was the type of striker we were missing in the first round. I think adding him has given us a lot of options," Tanko told the club's media.
The victory, combined with Bibiani Gold Stars' loss to Aduana Stars, lifted Medeama to the top of the league standings with a two-point lead.
With Obeng now fit and firing, the Mauve and Yellow look well-equipped for the title run-in.
