Tom Saintfiet has entered the race for the Black Stars job, with reports suggesting he has held talks with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over the vacant position.
Saintfiet is the latest name to be linked with the role as the GFA continues its search for a new head coach following the departure of Otto Addo.
The former Gambia coach is no stranger to the process, having been interviewed in 2024 before Addo’s reappointment. He has consistently expressed interest in the Ghana job and is believed to be open to taking the position if an agreement can be reached.
Saintfiet, who is currently in charge of Mali, is understood to have a strained relationship with the federation, with both parties open to a possible separation.
He was in charge when Mali faced Ghana during the World Cup qualifiers, a match the Black Stars won on their way to securing qualification for the tournament.
The Belgian guided Mali to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, but his most notable success came with Gambia, where he led the Scorpions to a historic quarter-final finish at the 2021 AFCON.
He joins a growing list of experienced coaches linked with the role, including Slaven Bilic, Carlos Queiroz, Paulo Bento, Kwasi Appiah, Fernando Santos and Steve McClaren, as the GFA weighs its options.
Ghana face a demanding task at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, having been drawn against England, Croatia and Panama in the group stage.
The Black Stars will also step up preparations with friendly matches against Wales and Mexico before opening their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto.
