Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has admitted that the Black Stars are ânot fully ready’ for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking during a recent media engagement with Citi Sports, the Minister highlighted a critical void in the national team’s technical leadership, noting that the country is currently without a head coach following the departure of Otto Addo.
The Ghana Football Association are currently ramping up their search for a new head coach, with the decision makers expected to meet on Friday.
Despite this logistical hurdle, Adams maintained an optimistic outlook, asserting that the team will be firing on all cylinders by the time they kick off their tournament campaign.
“We're not fully ready yet for the World Cup. We don't even have a head coach but I see us being ready by the time we play our first game,” Kofi Adams told Citi Sports.
Ghana is scheduled to play its opening match against Panama on June 17, 2026.
Adams believes that with the right structure, Ghana can navigate a challenging Group L that includes heavyweights England and Croatia.
