AJ Auxerre defender Marvin Senaya has reported to the Ghana national team camp in Vienna, Austria, effectively ending a high-profile international tug-of-war.
The 25-year-old right-back arrived on Monday to join other teammates as the Black Stars begin preparations for upcoming friendlies against Austria and Germany.
Senaya’s arrival marks a definitive choice following a dual call-up that sparked intense debate in West African football circles. Togo head coach Patrice Neveu had previously included the defender in the Sparrow Hawks' squad for matches against Guinea and Niger, claiming he had a verbal commitment from the player.
This claim was rooted in family ties, as Marvin is the son of former Togolese international Yao Mawuko Senaya.
However, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) successfully convinced the Ligue 1 star to represent the land of his mother instead. Taking to social media shortly after his arrival in camp, Senaya expressed "pride and joy" at receiving his maiden invitation to the Black Stars, signaling his readiness to help the team.

With 20 appearances and one goal for AJ Auxerre this season, Senaya is expected to provide much-needed depth to Ghana’s defensive line. His presence in Vienna confirms he has fully committed to the four-time African champions, putting to rest any further speculation regarding his international future.
The defender is expected to participate in his first full training session under the national team technical staff today.
