Ahead of Sunday's massive Super Clash at Baba Yara Stadium, former Hearts of Oak Board Member Frank Nelson has sent a stern warning to Asante Kotoko, insisting his players understand the weight of the jersey and the magnitude of the occasion.
Speaking with conviction on Akoma 87.9 FM, Nelson revealed that the Hearts dressing room are fully awakened to the significance of the fixtureâand the opportunity to alter the course of their season.
"They know what this game means," Nelson said pointedly. "The players have been psyched up, and they know what this game means. Our finishing has not been the best, and Kotoko's finishing has not been the best either, but I believe this Sunday will mark a turning point."
His comments reflect a deep belief that the intangiblesâpride, mentality, and historical weightâwill favour the Phobians this time.
"We are determined to rewrite history," he added. "I always say Baba Yara is our ground. This is our home. It is true that Kotoko have had the upper hand over us in recent years, but this season we are determined to rewrite history."
With Kotoko sitting fifth on 35 points and Hearts just one point above them in fourth, the Super Clash is more than bragging rightsâit is a battle for momentum, credibility, and a platform to push toward the title chase.
Nelson stopped short of a scoreline prediction, but his message was unmistakable:
"One thing is certain â Accra Hearts of Oak must win on that day."
Sunday cannot come soon enough. And if Nelson's words are any indication, Hearts are arriving in Kumasi not just to playâbut to make a statement.
