Shrewsbury Town have completed the signing of Ghanaian defender Kevin Berkoe from Salford City on transfer deadline day for an undisclosed fee.
The versatile 26-year-old wingback, who began his career in the academies of Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers, arrives after a four-year spell at Salford. He becomes the first official signing for new head coach Gavin Cowan.
Coach Cowan explained that the decision to bring in Berkoe was a targeted move to address squad balance late in the transfer window.
With flexibility to play on both the left and right defensive flanks, Berkoe provides crucial depth and tactical options for the team.
The Ghanaian defender could make his debut for Shrewsbury Town as early as this Saturday when the team travels to face Colchester United.
The signing reflects Cowan's intent to strengthen key areas as he begins his tenure at the club, with Berkoe's experience and adaptability seen as valuable assets for the challenges ahead in the league campaign.
