National President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG), Dr. Kasser Tee, has called on marketing professionals to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) as a transformative tool for the profession.
He was speaking at the 33rd Annual CIMG President’s Ball held at the Lancaster Hotel in Accra on November 30, 2024, under the theme: “Harnessing the Power of AI as a Transformative Tool for Marketers.”
Dr. Tee emphasised that AI was not just a technological advancement, but a catalyst to redefine the marketing landscape.
“Artificial Intelligence has emerged as a pivotal force, reshaping the way we connect with consumers, analyze data and develop strategies,” he said.
“It offers us unparalleled opportunities to gain deep insights, enhance efficiency, and deliver personalized experiences that resonate with our audience.”
Dr. Tee underscored the role of AI in driving societal change by tailoring messaging to diverse audiences and promoting informed and empowered societies.
While praising the opportunities AI presents, Dr Tee urged caution, advocating for the ethical deployment of AI in marketing.
He stressed the importance of transparency, integrity, and respect for privacy in AI applications.
“As Marketers, we have a responsibility to ensure that the deployment of AI is guided by ethical considerations,” Dr Tee remarked.
“By upholding these principles, we can harness AI’s transformative potential while safeguarding the values that underpin our profession.”
Dr Tee reminded attendees of the importance of peace and unity during this critical time. He commended the 12 presidential candidates for signing a peace pact and urged all Ghanaians to uphold civility and mutual respect throughout the election process.
“Our collective conduct before, during, and after the polls will determine not only the outcome but also the legacy we leave for future generations,” he said.
“Let us approach the elections with respect and tolerance, ensuring that Ghana remains a beacon of hope and stability.”
The event also celebrated excellence in marketing with the induction of new Chartered Marketers and other members into the CIMG. Dr Tee congratulated the inductees, acknowledging their dedication and hard work.
“Your journey to this point has been marked by a commitment to excellence,” he noted. “As you embark on this new chapter, let your passion, innovation and integrity elevate the standards of our profession.”
Dr Tee concluded by expressing gratitude to members and stakeholders for their contributions to the success of CIMG’s activities in 2024.
He encouraged marketers to collaborate and innovate as they leverage AI to shape a brighter future for the profession.
“Together, we can harness the power of AI, uphold the values of democracy, and strive for excellence in all our endeavours,” he said.
