Bright Senior High School (SHS) has announced a new scholarship initiative, in collaboration with Blyth Academy in Canada and the Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly.
This program is designed to support outstanding junior high school graduates in continuing their education at the senior high school level and beyond.
Starting from the 2024/2025 academic year, the scholarship will cover full tuition at Bright SHS, a distinguished private institution known for its academic excellence.
The initiative also offers significant financial incentives, and the top-performing student will receive a GH¢10,000 prize, while the first and second runners-up get GH¢5,000 and GH¢3,000, respectively, for their upkeep.
The scholarship targets students with a keen interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
Eligible applicants must be JHS graduates and provide their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results or terminal reports along with birth certificates if BECE results are pending.
Application forms are available for free on Bright SHS’s social media platforms and in hard copy at the school and the Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly.
An independent panel, including representatives from the Municipal Education Directorate and experienced educators, will evaluate candidates based on their performance in Mathematics, Science, and English.
The assessment is scheduled for August 23, 2024, at Bright SHS. The school will also provide complimentary accommodation and meals for applicants and their parents traveling from distant locations.
Mr. Dominic Acquah, Vice President of Bright SHS, underscored the institution’s dedication to supporting talented students in achieving their educational goals.
Alhaji Umar Bodinga, Municipal Chief Executive for Abuakwa North, urged parents to encourage their eligible children to apply for the scholarship.
Bright SHS, located in Akyem Kukurantumi, near Koforidua, has earned numerous accolades, including being named the best private SHS in Ghana for 2021 by the West Africa International Press Limited and the best private school in Abuakwa North in December 2022.
The partnership with Blyth Academy, established last year, seeks to expand opportunities for Ghanaian students.
Notable figures like Alhaji Umar Bodinga and Dr. Martin Otu Offei, a Senior Lecturer at Koforidua Technical University, have commended Bright SHS for its commitment to academic excellence and student development.
