FC Nordsjaelland Football Director Alexander Riget has outlined the qualities that convinced the Danish club to hand Ghanaian defender Jamal Sudais a five-year contract.
The 18-year-old centre-back joins from the Right to Dream Academy and will initially work with FC Nordsjaelland’s U19 side as he continues his development.
Riget believes Sudais stands out as a left-footed defender with several qualities that fit the club’s footballing philosophy.
“Jamal is a left-footed central defender who stands out in the landscape. He is skilled with the ball and has good technique, including fine passes forward into the field,” Riget said.
The football director also praised the Ghanaian’s physical qualities, pointing to his ability in aerial situations and one-on-one duels.
“He is also good with his head and strong in duels.”
However, Riget believes Sudais still has important areas of his game to develop before making the step into senior football.
“Now he must become more stable in his game, work with the collective in defence and fully adapt to our playing style,” he added.
Riget believes the U19 setup will provide the right environment for Sudais to work on those areas under the guidance of the club’s coaching staff.
“He will do this in the first time as part of our U19 squad, where he can develop under our skilled coaches.”
Sudais joined Right to Dream at the age of 10 and has already trained with Nordsjaelland’s Superliga squad, including during a winter training camp in Estepona.
Riget believes the youngster has plenty of room for growth and says the club is looking forward to following his progress.
“Of course, he still has a lot to learn, and we look forward to following Jamal in the future as part of FC Nordsjaelland.”
