Majeed Ashimeru has taken his 2026 World Cup omission in good faith after speaking for the first time since the announcement of the squad.
The RAAL La Louviere loanee could not make Ghana's final squad for the tournament despite his impressive display during the friendly against Mexico.
Ashimeru's absence raised questions with many criticising the football administration and the new coach for not inviting the versatile midfielder.
Despite the disappointment, Ashimeru is backing the Black Stars to victory ahead of their opening game against Panama on Wednesday.
"Let us support the team tomorrow so we can win the game. The first game is very important. We can win the game, one hundred percent," he said in a video shared on social media.
On his exclusion, Ashimeru pleaded with his supporters to be calm and when the time is right he will be part of the Black Stars at a major competition.
"What has happened has already happened. We just have to support. Life goes on," he added.
Ashimeru was spotted training at the Nania Park in Legon with former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew.
The former WAFA player last represent Ghana at a major tournament during AFCON 2023, and he was one of best players in an ill-fated competition for the West Africans.
He is expected to return to parent club Anderlecht this summer to begin pre-season ahead of the new campaign in August.
