Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Frederick Ansah Botchway has suggested that the competitiveness of the Ghana Premier League has declined in recent years.
Botchway drew a contrast between his time in Ghana and his current assessment of the Zimbabwean top flight.
He compared both leagues based on his playing experience and insisted that standards in Zimbabwe are currently strong.
“Currently, I think their league is there. It is very, very good, and the competition is there,” he told GhanaWeb.
“Like my time when I was in Hearts of Oak, the competition was there, the level was high.
“Compared to them, it’s okay, but my time in Hearts of Oak, the competition was very high compared to now,” he added.
Frederick Ansah Botchway won the Ghana Premier League and two FA Cup titles during his time at Hearts of Oak.
He also has a Super Cup title alongside a President’s Cup crown as part of the successful Samuel Boadu team.
