Albert Amoah made an instant impact on his return to Asante Kotoko, delivering a performance that left coach Karim Zito beaming after a 3-0 Ghana Premier League win over Basake Holy Stars on Sunday.
The 24-year-old forward, reintroduced from the bench at Baba Yara Stadium, wasted no time reminding fans of his quality. A
moah opened his account with a stunning overhead kick to make it 2-0, sending the home supporters into ecstasy and cementing Kotoko’s control over the match.
Later, he showcased his versatility by providing a perfectly timed assist for Kwame Poku, whose own overhead finish capped an emphatic victory for the Kumasi giants.
"Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. He announced his comeback with two brilliant plays, scoring one goal and providing one assist. But at the end of the day, I think we gradually focused, and we are still doing everything possible to win the game - and we did it. So I'm very happy with him; he made his return known by scoring a goal and then assisting, which is very good."
Amoah’s return comes after a stint at Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi, where limited game time prompted a loan move back to Kotoko for the remainder of the season.
His debut could hardly have been more convincing, demonstrating the attacking prowess that earned him 15 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions in the 2024-25 season.
