The GaDangme Association over the weekend awarded scholarships to 11 Level 100 students who gained admission to Accra College of Education.
Additionally, the association has pledged scholarships to nine other continuing students at the same College.
J. Ayikoi Otoo, President of the GaDangme Council, in a statement said the ceremony marked the culmination of the Association’s commitment to promoting education and providing opportunities for the youth in our community.
“We firmly believe that investing in education is crucial for the development of our society, and these scholarships are a testament to that belief,” he added.
Mr. Otoo mentioned that the recipients of the scholarships were selected based on their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, financial need, and, above all, their interest in learning and teaching the Ga and Dangme languages.
“The Association is incredibly proud of the work that we have done to make this ceremony possible. It is a testament to the dedication and generosity of our members who contributed as well as the support of our community partners notably Professor Sam Atintonu the Principal of Accra College of Education for his diverse assistance to our project.”
“Other important partners being; Greater-Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, Nii Kwadey Okropong -Abese Adonten Mantse-La, Emmanuel Lamptey former MCE, Naa Torshie Addo, Divine Agorhorm, Ambassador Nii Okai Hammond, Mr Nii Obodai Provencal, John Mensah Anang, Daniel Koi Larbie, Professor Nii Ayitey Tagoe, Solomon Kotey Nikoi MCE La Dadekotopon Municipality; Sam Dzata George MP for Ningo Prampram and many others. The Association is confident that these scholarships will make a meaningful difference in the lives of the recipients and contribute to their future success,” he stated.

The GaDangme Association/Council is thrilled to announce that over the weekend i.e. on Saturday,13th January 2023 at the prestigious La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, the Association awarded scholarships to eleven (11) Level 100 students who had gained admission to Accra College of Education and pledged to support nine(9) other continuing students at the same College. This ceremony was a momentous occasion for us, as it allowed us to inch towards realizing our goal of not complaining about the plight but practically acting to rescue the Ga and Dangme languages which are losing their dominance in the Greater-Accra Region.
The scholarship ceremony was a culmination of our Association’s commitment to promoting education and providing opportunities for the youth in our community. We firmly believe that investing in education is crucial for the development of our society, and these scholarships are a testament to that belief.
The recipients of the scholarships were selected based on their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, and financial need and above all their interest in learning and teaching the Ga and Dangme languages.
During the ceremony, we had the privilege of hearing from some of the scholarship recipients, who shared their stories and aspirations for the future. Their words were a powerful reminder of the impact that our Association can have on the lives of these students. It was heart-warming to see the joy and gratitude on their faces as they received their scholarships.

In conclusion, the scholarship ceremony was a significant milestone for our Association, as it allowed us to fulfill our mission of reviving and restoring the Ga and Dangme languages as well as supporting education in order to empower the next generation of leaders.
We are grateful for the opportunity to invest in these deserving students and look forward to seeing the impact they will make in their communities so that very soon the perennial excuse that the languages are not being taught due to lack of teachers will be a thing of the past.
