In a remarkable display of corporate social responsibility and community support, First National Bank (FNB) has donated GH¢30,000 to Citi FM/Citi TV’s relief campaign aimed at assisting individuals and families affected by the recent flood disaster caused by the Akosombo Dam spillage.
The spillage of the Akosombo Dam has brought widespread flooding to the surrounding areas including parts of the Volta Region displacing numerous residents and leaving them in dire need of assistance.
In the face of this crisis, Citi TV/Citi FM launched a campaign to solicit funds and relief items to help displaced persons. FNB Bank swiftly stepped forward to provide essential aid through its substantial contribution.
FNB Bank’s generous donation not only reflects its dedication to the well-being of the community but also exemplifies its commitment to standing by the side of those enduring the hardships triggered by this natural disaster.
The Bank has also promised to put together a proper relief package to help the victims of the disaster.
The Bank also disclosed that its staff will join Citi FM/Citi TV for the donation on Saturday.
Gwendy Laryea, the Consumer Educator at FNB Bank, said “We want to, first of all, congratulate Citi FM/Citi TV for not just talking but walking their talk and really going the extra mile to not just give coverage but mobilize some help for the inhabitants of the lower Volta. At First National Bank, we are just living our brand purpose of help.”
“Help is at the heart of everything that we do and which better ally can we find to partner to provide the relief support that you are giving to the people that are affected by the flood? That’s why we are here making an immediate donation of GH¢30,000 toward the relief support you are giving to the people in the nine districts.”
“We are going further, we are putting together non-perishable food items that you can take with you as well as sanitary items, soap, detergents, and any other things that we can get from our employees. We will bring them together so that on your next donation, our employees will join you and help give those things to the people.”
“Infact, our Chief Executive Officer Warren Addams has been so moved by the plight of these people that he is engaging the FirstRand Group in South Africa for more help through the FirstRand Disaster Relief Programme to these impacted people.”
Citi FM’s relief campaign has played a pivotal role in mobilizing resources and aid for those impacted by the Akosombo Dam spillage.
FNB Bank’s contribution further underscores the significance of community collaboration in times of adversity and the profound impact of corporate partnerships in addressing the needs of the affected populace.
The GH¢30,000 donated by FNB Bank not only offers immediate relief but also serves as a powerful testament to the compassion and solidarity of businesses in Ghana.
