The Ambassador of Spain to Ghana, Javier Gutierrez, chaired the annual general meeting and networking cocktail event of the Spain-Ghana Chamber of Commerce at The Labadi Beach Hotel. The meeting served as medium for the management and board of the Chamber to be accountable to members by presenting the audited financial statement and activity reports for 2022.
In his opening remarks, Javier Gutierrez who is Honorary President of the Chamber, acknowledged the partnership between the Embassy and Chamber, and expressed joy about the increasing number of membership and consistency of attendance by members from both Ghana and Spain.
He also addressed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Chamber and the University of Ghana by appealing to members to participate in this initiative which will enrich the UG student experience. The MoU which was signed in May 2022, creates an opportunity for students of the University to do internships with member-companies of the Chamber. He introduced the new Counsellor of the Chamber’s Commercial Office, Yann Emonet, to all members present as he has just recently taken up the post.
The President of the Chamber of Commerce, Joaquín Roura expressed confidence in member companies to leverage their collective strengths to transform the current economic challenges in the country into opportunities. He reiterated that the chamber will continue to actively promote trade and investment opportunities, facilitate partnerships and provide a platform for knowledge exchange and networking.
The audited financial statement was presented by the Chamber’s auditors, Masaada Consultants and the activity report for 2022 was presented by the General Secretary of the chamber after which a thorough question and answer session was conducted to engage members about their peculiar needs and areas of interest.
