A Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ernest Owusu-Bempah has served notice that the NPP will not allow anyone to cause trouble in the elections, especially in the Ashanti Region.
He said the NPP will stay within the law but will not sit unconcerned while others engage in violence.
He was replaying to a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Richard Jakpa who had outlined the party’s strategies to safeguard for the December 7th polls
The NDC has vowed to neutralize what it describes as systematic electoral malpractices in the Ashanti Region, a known stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming Presidential and parliamentary elections.
“Over 70% turnout in some areas is not natural,” he told Accra-based Gh One Television, suggesting that such results are the outcome of “rigging techniques” employed by the ruling party which holds Ashanti as a major political stronghold.
But Ernest Owusu Bempah also told journalists “I want to sound a word of caution to Jakpa that they should not dare try to cause mayhem, otherwise they should write their own obituary.
“NPP is fully prepared for any miscreants who will come and misbehave, we are law-abiding people but if they want to cause commotion, we will meet them squarely. NPP will not be walked over, we are ready to protect our ballot.”
