The Ghana Mine Workers Union has called on the Chief Justice to facilitate the legal processes for trial and adjudication of the case to reinstate the three unionized workers who were dismissed by Sunon Asogli.
General Secretary of the Union, Abdul Moomin Gana who was speaking to members of expressed worry over the delay in the court proceedings as it continues to generate agitations among the mine workers.
Last year, three unionized workers of the Sunon Asogli were dismissed for deciding to join a trade union.
Though the issues have been presented to the National Labour Commission and the courts, the issues have not been addressed, resulting in disappointment among members of the labour unions.
“As a union we maintain that the termination of the appointment of the three union leaders for deciding to join a trade union and volunteering to lead their fellow workers at the enterprise level is most unfair and unjust and violates their fundamental rights guaranteed by the constitution of Ghana.”
“Let me therefore use this medium to specially appeal to the Chief Justice of the Republic Ghana and by extension the managers of the court to intervene in this matter by facilitating the expeditious trial and delivery of justice for our three colleagues and by extension the working people of this country,” he said.
